Name: Joshua State: Indiana Birthday: 2/16/1984 Gender: Male
Interests: I enjoy relationships. My most important relationship being with God, and secondarily friends and family. I am also a big fan of movies & anime, except for the stupid ones(I'm picky about these). I love writing poetry and occasionally short stories. I love good music(picky). I like singing, even though I'm not very good at it. I would like to learn guitar, or some instrument, but for now I just pretend. I like Japanese & enjoy learning it. I love the Japanese people, because God has given me a special love for them. I liked high school when I was in it, at good old GCA. I love my friends and I love GOD, and want to love Him sooo much more. I like a lot of artsy stuff, though not all of it. Sometime I want to try out painting or drawing. I've never taken an art class, so I don't know if I'm any good at that sorta thing. I like traveling, road trips, walking, listening, talking, hiking, camping or any combination of these. I love love, and God is love! Expertise: I guess I'm a pretty good writer, if I'm to believe what people tell me. I also hope to be fluent in Japanese someday. Being around my friends, probably even more than some of them want. ^_^ Occupation: Other Industry: Entertainment

| Well, earlier today (21st), I traveled for a few hours by bus and went
to the Indy 300 in Motegi, Tochigi Prefecture Japan. It's the only Indy
car race outside of the states I think. The Governor of Tochigi
prefecture, the prefecture I live in, was there. Mike and I ate Papa
John's pizza with him and talked to him last year at IUPUI. There were
kids singing and dancing with Japanese and American flags, and they
sang "home again in Indiana". They played the Japanese national anthem
followed by the American national anthem. There were little Japanese
kids walking around with American flags painted on their cheeks, and
they had America dogs (corn dogs). They also had some jets fly around
and it was really cool. Anyway, the only Japanese driver lost control
and wrecked his car on the second turn of the first lap. It was ironic.
I got a T-shirt, there. It's okay, but not awesome. After the
race, we went over to a Honda museum building like thing there. I
didn't have time to look at much of stuff there because we went there
mainly to see Asimo, then we left. So I saw Asimo, Honda's talking,
running, dancing, complete with Japanese politeness tendencies robot. When I
say running I mean it. I'll try to put a video eventually. The robot
can run, walk, do lots of things... it's kind of scary, but also really
cool. So yeah I got within about 10-15 feet of Asimo b\c I was in the
front row. It was very cool. Anyway, that's it for now. I'm really
enjoying Japan. more later. God bless you all. -=Joshua=-
P.S.Nathan,
I used those green ear plugs that you gave me a few years before I
started working at Fed-Ex, the one that came in little bags with a
yellow string attaching them to each other. They've been in the pocket
of my jacket for probably, I don't know 6 years now or something. They
finally came in handy. Later.

| Sorry, I havn't uploaded pictures and videos (which I have taken by the way), it's just at the moment I have to borrow other computers to do anything like that, as I have not gotten a laptop myself yet, and I've also been busy trying to make friends here and learning what I'm doing for classes and how to speak and listen (etc...) to Japanese better. I think I might have made some friends with some freshman during my trip to the onsen (hot spring) in Kinagawa. They just gave us a old laptop for the English Lounge which is where we sit for hours a day waiting and hoping that someone will come in to hang out with us and work on English. It hasn't been busy yet, but I have hope that we'll get more people in. Coming at this time in the year is better for making friends, anyway. The freshman seem to be much more open to becoming friends with the 留学生 (りゅうがくせい) {Ryugakusei) <Foreign Exchange students> then the other students who already have there groups of friends and are set in there ways. All that crap in the last sentence is the same word(s). I do miss you people in Indiana a little bit, but so far I'm doing okay. Anyway, I'm using Mike's computer and it is currently almost 1am (ichijigozen; 一時午前) here (koko; ここ) in Oyama, Japan (Oyama, Nihon; 小山、日本).
おやすみなさい (goodnight)
I'll get to later, I'll try to post tomorrow while in English lounge, but still no pictures and video yet, probably. But I did get to watch and may have some video of the Koto Club playing a Simon&Garfunkel song on kotos. Very cool.
Later and God's blessings and love, -=Joshua=-
P.S.
I haven't forgotten about you either Chasters! okay, or anybody else, I just need to get settled. It's my first week of classes, so I'll post and communicate a little more when A. I have a laptop or B. I start getting more used to life here and my schedule.
Night again and God bless you all,
-=Joshua=-

| | Currently Watching Frank Herbert's Children of Dune (TV Miniseries) By Alec Newman, Julie Cox, Edward Atterton, Ian McNeice, Barbora Kodetov, Steven Berkoff, Daniela Amavia, P.H. Moriarty, James McAvoy, Jessica Brooks (II), Jonathan Bruun, Rik Young, Martin McDougall, Gee Williams, Alice Krige, Susan Sarandon, Mariano Titanti, Marek Vasut, Jakob Schwarz, Klra Issov see related | I need to get ready to go to Japan, b\c right now, I'm not quite ready. Will I be when I go? Well I have less than 2 weeks, so I'm thinking... mostly. I need to study more Japanese, but I find myself wanting to do anything else, like hang with my friends and do things I won't do over there. So the transition might be a little bit rough, or a lot, who knows? But, it'll work out. This morning at church (well a church I used to go to) they are gonna pray for me and do a send off thingy. Which is cool. I need to do more work, but I just wanna play. =P I gotta buy computer, get Visa, memorize a speech by Thursday, study for vocab quiz on Monday, take a test a week or so after that. Review earlier Japanese so I don't sound retarded when I get there, b\c I want to sound like at least a 2nd grader, or close to one. Okay, I'll take 5 year old, or even 3 honestly. Oh well, I'll learn more there. Right now, I need to sleep, but don't want to, but I should sleep for about 3.5 hr. or so, before I have to get up for church. I went on a road trip last night, earlier tonight, for me, to the Cincinnati area to watch "300" on an IMAX. It was pretty cool, but could of done with less nudity, which I expected a little bit b\c, come on it's about Greeks, so... yeah. I should sleep. If you want, say a prayer or two or three or more for me during the next few weeks. Hopefully everything is ready to go, and I begin to adjust well when I get there. If not... well I won't commit suppuku, b\c I'm not about suicide, being Christian and all. I'll make it somehow, God willing.
Peace out, love and God's blessings, -=Joshua=-
P.S. I got your message Cha, I'm sorry I haven't written you back yet, I've had to deal with 2 unsuccessful buying computer on e-bay situations, and other than that I've just been kind of careless with my time. G'night.

| Yo. Been listening to music and my friend Kyle. He had a good day! So I'm happy for him. (If a wee bit jealous ~_~ and tired. -_-zzz.) I saw "The Departed" again today it's good. But contains a lot of language and violence. Anyway, I'm getting tired, been listening to: Pixies, The Cure, and Fountains of Wayne. Yeah, I need sleep and study Japanese too. But I need to be responsible for my actions.
